Pixie Scarf Hat
                       Design by Miyoko Cancro

This super cute pixie hat is easy to knit and keeps children warm in cold days.
The attached scarf makes it even easier to wear. It's long enough to tie or wrap around your child’s neck.  Just wear as a scarf and keep the hoodie in the back. Kids won’t loose it!

Instractions

Note: Hat and scarf are knitted in one piece. Work flat from front to back of the hat.  Then graft the back seam. Scarf is knitted flat after stitches are picked up from bottom of the hat.

Hat
Using US7(4.5mm) circular needle, CO 68(78,88) sts.
Work Double seed stitches for 8(10,12) rows.
Work stockinette stitch (K on RS and P on WS) until hat measures 6(7,8)”/ 15(18,20)cm from CO.

Separate all live stitches equally in half. Pull excessive cable out of the way and move stitches to both tips of circular needle. (Or Move stitches to 2 streight needles.)
Cut yarn, leaving a 20” (50cm) tail.
Fold the hat in harf and graft the stitches together, using Kitchener stitch or 3 needle bind off. (This invisable seam is going to be center back of the hat.)

Scarf
Using US7(4.5mm) circular needle with Cable cast on, CO 80(90,100) sts.

Note: The length of the scarf is your prefarence. If you want a longer scarf for your baby, follow bigger size. 100 sts(20”) will make it long enough to wrap around and tie in front.

With RS facing, pick up and knit 44(52,60) sts from bottom edge of the hat. (I picked up every other row from the hat.)
CO 80(90,100) sts again with Cable cast on. You should have even number of stitches.

Work Double seed stitch until scarf width measures 2”(5cm) or until your desired width.
BO in pattern.

Finishing
Weave in ends. Block lightly and wear!
